Situation
SmarTrac .Net is a nationwide shipping and logistics system with clients from the west coast to the east coast. They had a server based solution in place that allowed for tracking, route management and package assignment.

The issue was that as they were growing more and more clients wanted access to view information however the system was complex and required a client to VPN into the system. Not only did the system take a hit with the amount of VPN clients on at once, but this opened them up to vulnerability of clients accessing proprietary information.
The Solution
Developers of iC Tek Solutions determined the best solution would be to implement a web based interface built upon the current application. This interface would allow for customers to access information and reports quickly from the web.
iC Tek Solutions developers designed and implemented an in-house system that was object oriented based using the .Net 2.0 Framework with a MS SQL 2005 database backbone.
A number of reports have been developed for both internal and external use. These reports often have an Adobe Flash graphical depiction of the data and are exportable through Excel. The complete Web Portal has been designed using cutting-edge technology - C# with ASP.NET as well as XML Web Services with MS SQL for the core databases.
The system is used by a large number of logistic companies throughout the U.S. Each company is able to pull the tracking and reporting information into their own private site through the use of the web services.
