Web Development
Phoenix - Mesa Gateway Airport
iC Tek Solutions this past summer released the new web site for Phoenix – Mesa Gateway Airport. The design was completed by another company, however iC Tek Solutions completed all the web development for this project. This project included determining the needs and the requirements for not only the employed members of Gateway but also the passengers.
The new site allows for passengers to view up-to-date flight status which integrates with the flight management software. It was determined that non- technological people within the airport staff must be able to make additions and modifications to the site. With that in mind iC Tek Solutions developed a custom CMS that met their needs.
iC Tek Solutions discovered through focus groups that almost 90% of the people that fly in and out of this airport for business live on the east side of the Metro-Phoenix area. With this mind, the design needed to be simple, quick, and to the point. The biggest issue with business travelers is time. One key element that was a necessity in integration was having the current flight status on the front page so at a glance the traveler could get the information they needed most.
The File Manager provides a visual display of the content used by the site. Administrators are able to manipulate the files by editing their names, deleting them, moving them to different folders, and uploading new ones. For this system, several different levels of staff roles were setup and each one was given access to only one or two folders they had control over. In addition to this, the system administrator is able to specify how much control a staff role has at an itemized level (e.g. renaming, deleting, copying, pasting, etc).
The Document Manager provides administrators with a method of setting up document categories and adding documents to each of those categories. Administrators are able to specify the document name that appears on the documents page, the file or URL that the document is linked to, and some additional options as well. In addition to this, documents can be moved up or down by using the links at the top or by dragging and dropping them into different locations. This will change how they are ordered on the documents page as shown below. Document categories can be managed and reordered as well.
The Photo Gallery Manager provides administrators with a method of setting up photo galleries and adding photos to each of those galleries. This manager functions similar to the Document Manager shown above.
